Paul has had 20 years experience in teaching watercolours at all levels. He is a sensitive and tolerant teacher, and his courses are warm and friendly making them suitable for all ranges of ability. Students will be asked to paint direct from the subject whenever possible, but backed up by concentrated work in the studio if the weather is unsuitable, learning complexities of this amazing medium.

Ray has been teaching for nearly twenty years and is highly regarded as a sensitive and patient teacher, with a good sense of humour. Towards the Abstract. Abstract painting follows the same rules and concepts as realistic painting but relies on the imagination rather than the simple copying of what is there. We study the tools of the abstraction and the approaches of successful abstract artistsand we adopt those we favour into our own practice to produce startling images lying somewhere between the realistic and the abstract. John favours Pastel for abstract work because it is infinitely flexible - but the course applies equally to other media
